The property is based in a native hardwood hammock and contains some very rare trees originally planted 50 years ago by the well-known horticulturalist and local conservationist, Jerry Ellis. One of the largest mahogany terees in South Flroida sits in the middle of the property, and other flora abound throughout the property such as hibiscus, and orchids. Our native fauna include Pete the Heron who will wait patiently for scraps while you’re cleaning your fish, and our family of Iguanas who are often found sunning themselves by the boat basin.
CRITTERS: In addition to the rare and tropical flora, the fauna which call the property home will entertain you during your stay. An Osprey (called Ozzie by the locals) sits atop the trees in the area during the early evenings. We have an octopus in the marina who will look after your shrimpbucket if you leave it in the water. He may even play tug of war with you in the morning, and has beenknown to become a land animal when he is looking for a handout. Pete, the Great White Heron, frequently stations himself on the seawall. When you have had a successful day fishing he always seems to have gotten the message and is waiting for you upon your return to the dock. Watch your fillets carefully. If you get diverted you will see how fast these creatures can move where food is concerned. His cousins, the pelicans, are usually right behind him when the fish cleaning begin and are just as brazen
Our boat basin can accommodate boats up to 26 feet in length, and dockage for one vessel is included in the rental of each unit. We have a small launch ramp which will handle boats up to 17-18 feet and there are several public ramps in the immediate area with an easy trip back to our boat basin.
There are a number of boat rental businesses in the area, many of whom will deliver the boat to our boat basin.
